  • Claude Debussy
    "La musique ne s'apprend pas"

The composer Claude Debussy was born near Paris in 1862. As young pupil at the conservatory he composed music, which did not at all correspond to the theory of that time.
He contradicted his teachers by claiming that pleasure is the only "legal" rule in music and that the feeling for music can not be learned.

Nevertheless Debussy became one of the greatest French composers. He created a music which changed the musical horizon tremendously.
The basis of this documentary are quotations from some of Debussy's companions; people who met him and those who lived with him.
